Following a one-year absence, the Claiming Crown, a seven-race, $600,000 event saluting North America’s best claiming horses, returned to Canterbury Park in Shakopee on Saturday. A crowd of 10,188 wagered $558,645 on the seven Claiming Crown races.
Shakopee resident Jay Todd Rubash, 42, died Friday after his motorcycle
collided with a SUV in Credit River
Township about 4:45 p.m.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Credit
River Boulevard and Vernon
Avenue. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office said the
SUV was northbound on Vernon Avenue,
also called County Road 91, which has stop signs at the intersection. The
motorcycle was westbound on Credit River Boulevard,
which does not have stop signs at the intersection.
