ATLANTA — With top-ranked Roswell and No. 3 Tift County losing on Saturday, Class AAAAA went through some changes as three teams claimed the top spots in the Georgia Associated Press high school football poll.

Meanwhile, both of Greater Rome’s ranked teams remain in the same spots as last week. Both the Rome Wolves in Class AAAA (3-0-1) and the Calhoun Yellow Jackets in Class AA (3-1) are still ranked No. 7 in their respective classifications.

Rome beat LFO 34-13 this past Friday, while Calhoun shut out Model 44-0.

The only other local team in the polls is Adairsville (3-1), which received votes in the Class AA rankings but did not crack the top 10.

The Tigers rallied past Temple 56-27 last week.

In Class AAAAA, Norcross moves into the No. 1 slot in Georgia’s highest class, while Coffee now ranks second and Stephenson moved up to the third slot. Roswell, which dropped to sixth, lost to unranked Walton 13-10 last week. Tift County was defeated by Thomas County Central 32-13, moving Tift down four spots.

Losing 35-0 to Tucker in Class AAAA action, St. Pius X took a major drop, going from No. 4 to No. 9. Northwest Whitfield, which tied for 10th last week, exited the poll despite a 17-14 win over Ridgeland.

Northside-Warner Robins retained its top position after a bye week, but Tucker also gained one more first-place vote and now has two.

In Class AAA, Carver-Columbus kept its top position as Shaw dropped out the poll, even though they beat Columbus 35-7. Hart County won over Josey 35-7 as well, but moved down two spots behind Stephens and Cairo.

No. 1 Lincoln County and second-ranked Wilcox County kept the their top spots in Class A. But No. 3 Seminole County and No. 4 Athens County flip-flopped as No. 5 Emanuel County Institute and No. 6 Pacelli did the same. Dooly County made the biggest leap in the class from being ranked ninth to now No. 7.

Class AA had no changes, except Dublin moving to the eighth spot ahead of Cook and Jefferson County.
