Have you ever heard of giving yourself a theme song? I remember seeing an episode of Ally McBeal where her therapist suggests that she give herself a theme song. She was to play that song in her head when she felt down or her self-confidence dipped (I think Ally's was "Tell Him" by The Exciters). Your theme song should be a song that gives you a lift as you walk down the street, a song that makes you feel happy, confident and in control. This all got me to thinking: If I had a theme song, what would it be? I think my theme song is (drum roll please) … "In a Big Country" by Big Country. I love how it starts with that guy yelling ‘SHOCK!’ and it’s such a happy song that just feels like it’s driving you forward toward greatness. It gives me the feeling that I can do anything and that happiness is there for the taking.
What’s your theme song?
What song would put a spring in your step and hope in your heart?

Back to page top"You Only Live Once" by The Strokes. The lyrics are a bit abstract, but all kind of relate to the title in some way -- basically saying there are all kinds of things in this world that can leave you disillusioned, but you can choose to walk right past them and maintain your own good vibe, sort of espousing a live-and-let-live attitude. And the music is amazing -- the saucy beat and good-time attack of the band really lift you up. I don't know if there's such a thing as a skip-strut, but that's what the song makes me want to do. Check out the whimsical video.

Back to page topWhile Roxxi's Momma would prob'ly say my theme song should be "Tomorrow" from the musical Annie, only she'd likely change the lyrics to something like...tomorrow, tomorrow, he'll do it tomorrow, its only a day away...but I'd like to be able to set my theme song daily depending on my mood and desires of the day.
I think I'd like a rotating play list of songs. Some days it would be "Its Five O'clock Somewhere" others it might be, "Cheeseburger in Paradise" or "Centerfield"...put me in coach, I'm ready to play!

But I guess if I had to pick just one song, I'd pick Billy Joel's song popularized by Garth Brooks "The River"...great lyrics...
