During a recent visit to Caribou, I thought of my baby sister, Amy – not because she likes coffee (I actually don’t even know if she drinks the divine morning liquid), but because she has breasts and her name is Amy.

During a conversation with a friend yesterday, the following phrase was spoken (not by me): "The sun shines on every dog's (butt) some day."

What?!

When I asked what that was supposed to mean, I just got laughed at. Well, he is a White Sox fan, so I can't expect coherent speech from him all the time, can I?

My neighbor is coming over for dinner and to exchange gifts tonight.

And, according to my husband the bartender, a Manhattan is only a drink -- so when I offered to make Manhattans, he looked at me oddly since I can't even mix a rum and coke properly on my own.

Fiery fall

Last fall, the tree outside my back window was not as tall as my second-story deck. This year, the tree is towering over that deck and the changing color took me by surprise this morning.
