Tools for unlocking a car.
May 2, 2007 - 11:10am — sfiecke
Last week, unbeknownst to me, my car key slipped off my chain. My spare key was at home, so my kind father drove an hour roundtrip to bring it. I made an extra copy and stuck it in my purse. My father advised me to also find a place under my car to store one. Unfortunately, I didn't immediately follow his advise. Yesterday, I went to someone's house for an interview, and left my keys and my purse in my car, automatically locking it without knowing it. In a crunch for time, I doled out $50 to Shakopee Towning to get my car unlocked. The guy who helped me used a wedge to pry the door open a little and then he stuck a long wire rod in to tap the unlock button. It took less than one minute. He told me he got tired of making the same mistake, so he decided to purchase his own unlocking set for himself. I didn't think about it more until later, but having your own set wouldn't do a person any good. You would keep these tools in your trunk, presumably, which would be locked with the rest of your car if you forgot your keys inside. But I suppose having the tools might help somebody else in need. So I'm curious, does anyone know where to buy these unlocking tools? How much do they cost? Do you need a license to own them?
