Come on! Are there no Bobby Flay lovers out there besides me? And can anybody make down-home cookin' better than Paula Deen? Can you look past Rachel Ray's annoying voice to see the yummy things she makes? Do none of you look around while shopping at Whole Foods to see if Curtis Stone is going to swoop in and cook for you?
I can't be the only person to veg (pun intended) out in front of the Food Network. Dish!
I've only seen a few Robert Irvine segments -- namely the one at Mall of America, so that was really neat, but otherwise I don't know too much about him.
Guy Fieri is getting me into big trouble because, in addition to drooling over his cooking, I want to go to so many of the places that he visits -- both locally and, especially, in San Diego (why do so many of the food choices from there look soooooooo good?)
I actually visited The Nook in St. Paul for the first time after seeing him there and, while they were definitely yummy, I think I like Lion's Tap burgers better. I definitely like the atmosphere at Lion's Tap more and having the banter with the bartenders and wait staff -- it was so busy at The Nook that the bartenders/staff did not have a chance to talk to the customers around the bar except for taking orders.
Plus, the wait to get into The Nook spills outside and some so-called regulars in front of us were complaining vehemently about the wait (it was dinner time on a Saturday night) being longer than usual because of the all A-holes who saw the show being there. Everyone in our first-timers party of three remained silent, but a guy in front of the group in front of us turned around and admitted his egregious behavior. Luckily there was laughter and not fisticuffs!
I like Giada but find it unfair that a skinny girl gets to have such a great job. She's really fun to watch because she gets so excited about some of the food. It's almost like a kid in a candy shop, so good on her.
And, I definitely agree about Paula Deen and her sons. People from the South know how to eat! I don't have any grandparents and she's not old enough to be my grandmother -- but I already have a mother -- so I'm hoping I can apply to be an adopted or honorary granddaughter.
Other than Nigella Lawson, whose name I recognize but whose face I can't place, I don't think I've even heard of those on your dislike list. There is one show that I've caught bits of recently that the woman on bugs me but I didn't hear what her name was and I was too far away from the TV/remote to check the info guide.
I actually have been working out while watching some of my favorite Food Network shows. My husband thinks that's hilarious and wonders if I use their food as my carrot to keep my on track so that, if I lose/maintain the weight I want that I can reward myself with something like I'm seeing. Hmmm...
Robert Irvine was the chef for Queen Elizabeth and one or two of our Presidents. Robert is a big dude too (talking his size).
Nigella Lawson - I can't stand how they film her show...always too close to the food. I really can't stand her..she always seems superior to everyone else.
Ellie Krieger - Pixy haircut...food is Healthy but looks horrible.
Robin Miller - bob haircut...she EXTREMELY organized and lets the audience know that. Wouldn't eat her food either.
Giada is just a very petite woman...she very genuine too me. She's a chocoholic too and will tell you so.
Love Iron Chef - both versions.
Can stand - Ace of Cakes and Amy (the recent Next Food Network Star) and Ina Garten.
I avoid - Two Dudes Catering and some of the newer shows.
Food Network makes me know that I would rather try new and different foods more than anything else -- eating becomes like a hobby when I am watching. I wonder if that's the definition of a foodie?
Alton Brown cracks me up on his various shows. If I could hang out with one of the Food Network guys, I'm not sure if it would be him or Bobby Flay. Guess it depends on what the menu is and how hungry I am ;-)
