After next week, I can officially be called a die-hard Twins fan.
My mom, sister and I are headed to Milwaukee Tuesday to cheer on the Minnesota Twins against the Brewers at Miller Park.
Cheering for the Twins on television or in the Dome is one thing, but to follow a team 300-plus miles just to applaud them on from the visitor’s side of the field is pretty hard core. Well, at least, I’d like to think so.
We’ve been planning the trip since the schedule came out last winter. I was pretty elated when I found out my favorite pitcher – Kevin Slowey – was planned to take the mound Wednesday night. We ordered some lower deck tickets so we could come early and watch the team warm up. Unfortunately, Glen Perkins’ entrance back into the pitching rotation bumped Slowey back a day and he won’t be pitching until Thursday. Shoot.
But it’s still has all the makings for a good trip. We’re road tripping it to Milwaukee and already have Twins t-shirts pressed and ready to go. I think we’ll forego the ‘Circle Me Bert’ signs, but I’m looking forward to some outdoor baseball. Please, baseball gods, a little nice weather, if you please.
I still have to put together a list of must-sees on the way. We’re taking I-90 all the way from Rochester, so if you have any suggestions for top tourist attractions in the beer and cheese state, let me know. Probably a trip to the Lake Michigan waterfront is in order.
Anyone else planning to drive out to Milwaukee next week?
