YahooTo get to know Anthony Daniels, you have to get to know C-3PO.
The fourth floor of the Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul will be home to the exhibit "Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination" from June 13 through Aug. 24. Daniels, the British actor who plays the droid in all six of the "Star Wars" movies, entertained questions from the Twin Cities media while sitting in a director's chair positioned in front of a display case housing the original costume molded from his body.
Being a lifelong fan of the movie series that made Daniels' career, I jumped at the chance to interview the man behind the fussy, self-conscious, comedic droid.
As I was preparing to do my short interview for the Let's Go! section and the Southwest Saturday newspaper, which I'm hoping to post online as soon as I can get it onto YouTube, I went to www.wikipedia.com for some background on Daniels. His entry is only one page long. See? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Daniels.
But the entry for C-3PO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C-3PO) is many pages long and details much of what Daniels did for the past 32 years.
During 15 minutes of talking with him, I found Daniels to be welcoming and pleasant, a class act. When Matthew Minelli, 15, of Prior Lake introduced himself to Daniels, the actor delayed several interviews to show the boy around, telling him stories and chatting "like C-3PO," he said. I didn't care at all that I had to wait around a bit (looking at the exhibit), especially since Daniels had been enjoying some time with his fans.
