My former husband chose our daughter's first name and I chose her middle name after he rejected nearly every choice I came up with because they sounded "like soap opera names."

Thus, we have Kelsey Nicole instead of Sierra Jessica and, while I don't recall if there were multiple Sierras in Kelsey's preschool class, she was one of six Kelseys in the group.

On a similar note, our vet tells us that our Roxxi is the only one with that name -- at least with that spelling.

My husband and I had a girl's name picked out for several years before our sweetheart was born. When I learned that a coworker's daughter had MY unborn child's potential name, I bawled. But then I realized there are millions of Melissas in the world but only one me. The same holds true for our daughter. We love her name but it's really HER we love.

Yeah, I LOVE my son's name, but am a little disappointed that it makes the top-10 here in Shakopee.

Of course, I agree with Shannon, and now I have the names NOT to do for the next one.

Now expecting parents know what potential names they can take off their list if they don't want their kid to have the same name as everyone else in grade school. It's nice to see some older more uncommon names become popular again, but it's too bad that then everyone feels they've got to name their child that.
