So, I take it you wouldn't subscribe to this Demi Moore "cleanse and detoxify" leech program: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,341629,00.html ?

Ick! I hate ticks. And

Ick! I hate ticks. And leeches. And spiders...Ok, I basically don't like creepy bugs that can launch a surprise attack or bugs that suck blood like vampires. I don't have any solutions to offer - just some agreement!

Ticks are creepy. Last summer, I spent two days in Brainerd and the ticks were everywhere.

Maybe they should make

Maybe they should make Frontline for humans.
Seriously, though, I am terrified of ticks...and even Frontline doesn't always keep them at bay! We went camping in Brainerd last summer and our dog had seven ticks on her over two and a half days. Between my husband and I, we had about another six or seven on us that weekend. My parents came up to visit for two hours and went home with about four ticks.
I hate pouring chemicals on myself (or my dog for that matter), but Lyme disease is a threat I don't particularly want to encounter.

Seriously, now. These little

Seriously, now. These little bugs are freaking me out this year.

On Saturday, while sitting on the swings at the outdoor bar at Captain Jacks in Prior Lake, my husband said he flicked a tick off the bar. I saw a couple of those hard-shelled bugs I've always called "garbage bugs," but I didn't see any ticks.

After we ate some nachos and had a beer, we headed over to a friend's house. On the way inside, I ran my hand through my hair and felt something -- I thought maybe it was a leaf or something because it was a little windy out. That's when I pulled a tick out of my hair -- it hadn't quite made it to my scalp -- and now I'm wondering if I was on the receiving end of the tick flick.

I itched for the rest of the night!

Tick tock

My dogs have both been treated for ticks but I also have an indoor cat that I have not treated. Yesterday, I found a live tick on the floor in my foyer so I'm planning to also treat the cat but what about the humans in the house? How do we combat these little nasties without squirting the serum between our shoulder blades? And why does my head itch from talking about them?
