I'm so disappointed. I thought this was going to be a post about Vanna White or Pat Sajak -- people Bears fans care about. But Brett Favre?

On a side note, when my dad retired after 20 years with the federal government (and having drawn a two-decade salary probably totaling less than what Favre made last year), his job was filled before he left the building and I'm sure he wouldn't have been able to just go back to work if he so chose. What makes Favre think he's any better than the average working guy?

IMHO, the gesture is extremely self-centered. These pro athletes (and show biz) make MILLIONS of dollars, funded largely by the public-at-large through team revenues.

They need to be careful or they might just find themselves biting the hand that's been feeding them!

I'm agree that it's getting old for celebs/athletes to retire and "un-retire" again. It's a pretty big life decision, so I don't understand how they go through the motions to announce it, and then flip flop. I'd say, most of the time, these people should have stuck with their gut instinct to get out of the biz the first time.
