If I recall correctly, the technician was talking with the dispatcher who asked his availability for another call and he said "I'm being held hostage here" in a flip way of saying the job was taking him way longer than he'd thought. The dispatcher then called 911. One of those silly misunderstandings.

I would be curious to find out why DirecTV thought their employees were being held hostage. Can a summary of the incident be published? You can bet in the future, if a DirecTV employee is actually held hostage at a customers residence, the company will be very hesitant to call the police for fear of being sued.

NO TAX INCREASE. CUT

NO TAX INCREASE. CUT SPENDING. The county has been spending too much for too long. It's time to start running county government as if it were a for-profit company.

John McCain and Tina Fey -- I mean Sarah Palin -- are on the cover of Newsweek this week and I noticed that McCain doesn't look so pasty white when there's a white background behind him.

Try this for a poll

Try this for a poll question. Do you think that the Republican VP nominee is really the governor of Alaska or Tina Fey (SNL & 30 Rock fame) in the ultimate acting gig ?

I didn't take this poll

I didn't take this poll during my visits to the State Fair, but sales of political bandanas at The Dog Perk booth in the canine building there might be an indication that pet-lovers prefer McCain -- or at least maybe that Republicans buy more stuff for their dogs.

On Saturday, there were plenty of both I "heart" Obama and I "heart" McCain triangles for dogs. But on Monday, only Obama scarves were still available and the guy in the booth said people were still asking for the McCain bandanas.

How's that for an unofficial poll?

Trust me, the whole Twin

Trust me, the whole Twin Cities area is better off without light rail. In virtually ALL major cities, light rail is over budget, behind schedule, over sold and does nothing to reduce traffic congestion. In the Seattle area, liberals gave the usual promises, and uneducated voters approved it.

It is funny that liberals in one city think they are smarter than liberals in other cities and they think they can do things better. Despite the history of light rail, liberals still hate cars enough to try to implement light rail. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Light Rail is a big hole in

Light Rail is a big hole in which to pour money consisting of generally slower speed, smaller capacity rail system using a private right of rail.

Commuter rail (or heavy rail) is a big hole in which to pour money consisting of cars that run on regular rail lines (or recently decommissioned rail lines).

As I recall, Scott county (Dan Patch line) was talking about Commuter rail, but the local Scott county DFL, including Will Morgan and others, are keeping anyone from even talking about it.
As for being " the forgotten stepchild" again, thank our DFL friends again. It's not just us, all the suburbs lose.
During the last transportation debate, the Republicans off an amendment suggesting that maybe transportation dollars should be spent based on usage.
Again our local DFL representatives voted against keeping tax dollars local.
That is why as you travel north you see miles and miles of beautiful, unused roads. The DFL allocated transportation money based on miles of roads, not usage. Sort of like having a house and instead of fixing the damage to the carpet in the entryway that gets heavy use, you instead spend all your money on the seldom used storeroom because it is bigger.

question....is light rail

question....is light rail and commuter rail two different things? when they say will likely never get light rail, and then go on to say we may or may not get commuter rail the story leaves me confused. what is the difference light rail verses commuter rail?..........my other question is are we preceived as the forgotten stepchild of which other County, Hennipen, Dakota,Carver, It wasent to long ago another politician Coined Hwy 212 The Forgotten road or somthing to that extent. Im not a politician but Id like to coin a new phrase. Scott County ''The Seventh Son of the 7 County metro''. We got it all here, Casino, Amusment Parks, Horse Tracks, Everything. And were doing just fine without Light rail
