Hard to believe the big guy is gone. There isn't a person who has ever been to a bar or club in the Shakopee area who didn't know Goose. Ride on, bro, ride on.

Forgot to ask. I've heard stories that Gary kept a stuffed goose (not a real one, I presume) in his yard, up in a tree, I think. Does anyone know where his nickname came from?

I didn't know Gary was

I didn't know Gary was terminally ill. When I used to see him at the Coffee Bean downtown, I thought he looked like quite the character. Last summer I took his picture (see above) at a car show downtown. I told him to look for the photo on the front page of the next week's paper, because that's where I thought it would be going, but we ended up running a different picture from the event. The next time I ran into him, he asked what happened to the photo. Apparently he had told all his friends he was going to be in the Valley News! I could tell he was disappointed. I made sure to at least post the picture on the Web site, but I felt bad. Now I really wish we had ran the photograph :(

Being teenagers in the 80's,

Being teenagers in the 80's, we were both totally in love with Dr. Noah Drake. We ran out to buy Rick Springfield's album at the record store at the Mall. We thought we look cute in our Cyndi Lauper clothes and out big hair.(Fur Sure)We spend most our time together giggling. We could spend 20 minutes in a good giggle over nothing really that funny. As adults we still giggle whenever we would get together or talk on the phone. We would send each other cards with 80 year old women dancing or tanning at the pool, with the comment" that will be us". I am so sad we wont grow old together.
I struggle to not be angry, but one look at her picture and my heart fills full of love, and a little giggle. Truly a loving person through to the core. In my 44 years on this earth, I have never met a more loving person. I am so bless to have had her as my best friend.
I first met Malinda Vierling

I first met Malinda Vierling when I was writing a Christmas-themed story that included memories from residents of Friendship Manor -- what a delightful lady! She made me laugh with her jokes and stories and I just wanted to take her home to be my grandmother!

My condolences to the Vierling family.

Chad Kling is someone I have

Chad Kling is someone I have known since the earliest days of grade school. We grew up blocks away from each other but the most important thing to say about Chad is his great spirit and charm. He’s one of the very few people I ran into all the time since his move to Shakopee and since he started working at the post office in town, he would see me waiting in the customer queue blended in with a bunch irritated or impatient nobodies and stop his task and in his own words, “Hey Nate, what’s up? Or “How ya dooin?” The point is Chad always did things to others especially those he knew to make them feel special and important.

In the last year, I have seen Chad quite a bit. Even running errands or at any Shakopee gas station, we crossed paths a lot and I’m very confused as to what happened. I don’t know what led up to his death and for some reason I feel very cheated and robbed of someone I consider a childhood friend. I also feel that maybe there was something I could have done to help him if he was suffering from a depression.

Chad was a great person and he will be missed.

We will miss Trae a great deal, but find strength in hearing how much he meant to other people. Thank you for your message and be sure to let your daughter know that she is someone special for accepting Trae for who he was.
Sincerely,

I just wanted to give my condolences to Joshua's family for his loss. I loss my nephew on January 7th, 2008 to Menengitis. I saw Joshua's obituary and saw that he was a young man with a family of his own. I am grateful that he was brave enough to fight in a war, but feel terrible that you all have to continue life with him. I hope that his child will grow up listening to the memories of her father. We are having a difficult time dealing with our loss, I just want you to know that others are feeling your pain and know that he is going to meet someone amazing in heavan, his name is Trae. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I hope that you find the strength and faith to persevere. Aunt of Trae, Melinda Peterson

Cy was a great man of wisdom

Cy was a great man of wisdom with an open mind the ability to look ahead and see the possible out comes for an action yet taken. He did this with every brick he placed, every chimney made, every one he met. With his kind words of wisdom, humor and much love he will surely be missed.
