Maroon 5 and Counting Crows will perform at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m.
Maroon 5’s success dates back to 2002, with the release of its debut album, Songs About Jane, which was certified quadruple platinum. The album contained four chart-topping singles: “This Love,” “She Will Be Loved,” “Harder to Breathe,” and “Sunday Morning.” Maroon 5 recently released its latest album, It Wont Be Soon Before Long.
Maroon 5, known for its hybrid pop/rock sound, has won two Grammy Awards. The quintet consists of: Adam Levine, vocalist; Matt Flynn, drummer; James Valentine, guitarist; Mickey Madden, bassist and Jesse Carmichael, keyboardist.
Counting Crows came on to the scene in 1993 with its debut album, August and Everything After. The album included the hit song “Mr. Jones” and sold seven million copies. The group has since released four additional albums and sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. Earlier this month, Counting Crows released Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings, which contains the current hit “You Can't Count On Me.” Counting Crows were nominated for an Academy Award for the number one hit “Accidentally In Love,” a track on the “Shrek” soundtrack.
Members of the Counting Crows include: Adam Duritz, vocalist; Jim Bogios, drummer; David Bryson, David Immergluck and Dan Vickrey, guitarists; Charles Gillingham, keyboardist and Millard Powers, touring bassist.
Also appearing will be Sara Bareilles, best known for her hit, “Love Song,” which catapulted her into the top five on the Billboard pop charts. A singer/songwriter with a soul/pop sound, Bareilles signed with Epic Records in 2005 and released her first major label album, Little Voice, in 2007.
Tickets are available for $95 and $145 and can be purchased at the following outlets: the Mystic Lake Store at the Mall of America, the Mystic Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at (651) 989-5151.

Back to page topWoo hoo! I just wish they would have added this date earlier, when the rest of the tour dates went on sale, so I wouldn't have ended up buying a ticket to see the show in Chicago and THEN learn they're coming to our own backyard. This, however, is one of, if not the only, indoor show on this tour. I think they added it late in the game because they wanted an MN show but there are no big outdoor amphitheaters here.
Oh, well. More fun (and less money) for me, I guess.
It sure would be nice, though, if tickets to this tour weren't sky-high. I think the tour organizers decided that because they have two (actually three, with opener Sara Bareilles) popular bands on the bill, it's worth $150. But honestly, Counting Crows just aren't really very popular anymore.
I know they just had an album out, but did anyone buy it? The last time I heard a good song from them was about 1995. Ouch, huh?
By the way, Sara B. is incredible and I'd highly recommend seeing her if you haven't, though this might not be the time if you're not big on Maroon 5 or Counting Crows. I think I paid $15 to see her at the Fine Line about a year ago.

...now if they were at the Basilica Block Party...http://www.basilicablockparty.org/ ...that seems like a more appropriate spot. You know outside, downtown, drinkin a beer...by the church...okay maybe thats weird too, but the Basilica is still a great time...

I've heard good things about...
Back to page topI've heard good things about this new Mystic venue, so I'm hoping it will be a good environment. I have noticed, though, that casino shows tend to be a little weird, because the audience doesn't usually get as excited. I don't think I'll ever understand how people can actually sit down at a rock concert!
On Sara Bareilles' Web site...
Back to page topOn Sara Bareilles' Web site (the Mystic press release spelled her last name wrong, by the way), it says this:
"Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond Sara's control, she will no longer be performing at Mystic Lake Casino on August 26, 2008."
Hmmm...wonder what those circumstances were?
Yeah casino shows are really...
