The Scott County Historical Society will present a special showing of the 1939 Frank Capra film “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” starring Jimmy Stewart and Jean Arthur on Friday night at the Scott County Historical Society, 235 Fuller St. S., Shakopee.
The Library of Congress added the film, nominated for 11 Academy Awards and winner of Best Screenplay, to the United States National Film Registry in 1989. It is also well known for its filibuster scenes.
Join the Historical Society for this heart-warming and inspiring film shown in the museum’s From the Hill to the Valley: A Landscape in Politics exhibit gallery.
The movie will start at 7 p.m. and there is no charge. Popcorn and soda will be available for sale.
