![]() Theater group seeks volunteers, members
February 18, 2008 - 12:21pm — Pat Minelli
Members of Shakopee new community theater group is seeking help for its first production. Thom Amundsen of Shakopee High School’s Drama Department is going to be the director of the group’s first production, “Rumors” by Neil Simon, which will be held at the high school auditorium on Aug. 7-10. Auditions for the play will be held on May 5 and 6. The group is in need of volunteers to help with the production and to become supporting members of the River Valley Theatre Company. There are several areas that need numerous volunteers, such as public relations, set design, fund-raising and others. Last October, a group of area residents formed the theater group in our area. Members have been meeting every second Wednesday of the month since then to get the group going. An executive board has been elected: president, Christi Blaskowski; vice president, Melissa McGowan; treasurer, Amy McGarness; and secretary, Mary Jorissen. The board-at-large includes Bob Greeley, Scott Swanson, Nora Nutt, Wes Reinke and Fran Bohlke. The River Valley Theatre Company will be looking for business sponsors from the community. The email account for the group is RiverVallyTheatreCo@yahoo.com. Other questions can be directed to Christi Blaskowski at (952) 233-8784. Everyone is invited to the group’s next meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 at the high school in room E115.
