Enjoy the “falling leaf” moon. Whether it is a naturalist-led hike, a gentle nighttime paddle or a wagon ride and bonfire, Three Rivers Park District offers a full moon experience close to your home.

Sunday, Oct. 12

+ Canoe When the Moon Is Full: Falling Leaf Moon is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Recreation Area in Hyland Lake Park Reserve, Bloomington. Join us for a sunset paddle around the lake as we see autumn in the parks from a different perspective. Gear and guide are provided. Cost is $8 and the program is for ages 5 and up. + Walk When the Moon Is Full: Wagon Ride and Bonfire is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Gale Woods Farm, Minnetrista. Journey through Gale Woods Farm by wagon to see all the site has to offer. Explore the hay maze and tour the barn. A warm bonfire and s'mores will warm you under the beauty of the full moon. Families welcome. Cost is $6 and reservations are required; call (763) 559-6700 and reference activity 43740605.

+ Walk When the Moon Is Full: Falling Leaf Moon takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Eastman Nature Center in Elm Creek Park Reserve, Dayton, or from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lowry Nature Center in Carver Park Reserve, Victoria, or Kroening Interpretive Center in North Mississippi Regional Park, Minneapolis.

Enjoy an evening walk and experience the peacefulness of fall. Look for the palette of fall colors and learn how the leaves change color. Listen for the sounds of migrating birds, look for nightwalkers. The cost is $4 and the activity is for ages 6 and older.
