Weekday summer camp volunteers needed in Three Rivers Parks
May 9, 2008 - 2:39pm — Ruth Anne Maddox
Are you a high school senior in need of volunteer credits to graduate or to beef up your college applications? Are you a young professional looking to give back to the community? Are you a senior citizen looking to stay active? Why not be a summer camp volunteer in Three Rivers Park District? Help children explore nature, outdoor recreation, farming and history. MinnAqua Fishing Camp, Archery Camp, Civil War Camp, Frogs and Tadpoles, Fairy Camp and Farm Adventures are just a few camps seeking teens (age 16 and 17), college students, retirees and other volunteers available during the weekday who enjoy working with children, have an interest in nature, history, recreation or farming and are willing to have fun. Volunteer locations include: Gale Woods Farm; The Landing; Elm Creek, Hyland Lake and Baker Park Reserves; and North Mississippi, Coon Rapids Dam and French Regional Parks. A morning or afternoon commitment for the duration of each camp is preferred. (Most camps last two to four days.) No previous experience is required. New volunteers must attend a Park District Volunteer Orientation from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10 at French Regional Park in Plymouth. Contact the Volunteer Office to register at (763) 559-6706 or e-mail volunteer@ThreeRiversParkDistrict.org. Program center staff will interview candidates before making final selections. Weekday volunteers are needed during the school year as well. Learn more about summer camps and volunteer opportunities at www.ThreeRiversParkDistrict.org or call Volunteer Coordinator Deb Vosler at (763) 559-6704.
