CHASKA - The School Board of the Eastern Carver County Schools on Thursday approved the administration’s request to send a letter to the Missota Conference asking that Chaska High School and the new Chanhassen High School be admitted into the Missota in fall 2010.
The Missota Conference includes the Academy of Holy Angels, Farmington, Hutchinson, New Prague, Northfield, Prior Lake, Red Wing and Shakopee, although Hutchinson will join the Wright County Conference in the fall of 2010.
The request was prompted by the district’s splitting the current Chaska High School into the Chaska and Chanhassen schools, resulting in smaller enrollments at each school.
If approved by the Missota, Chanhassen and Chaska would remain in the Lake Conference through 2009-2010, then join the Missota in the fall of 2010.
Chanhassen Athletic Director Dick Ungar said joining the Missota would enable more Chaska and Chanhassen high school students to participate in conference programs that include athletics, drama, speech, band and choir.
