The next mobile health clinic for individuals and families who are uninsured, underinsured or underserved will be available at the Russian Evangelical Christian Church, 1205 10th Ave., Shakopee, on Thursday between 2 and 6 p.m.
The clinic will also be offered at sites in Jordan and Savage, rotated every two weeks, through the rest of 2009, and additional locations will be added in 2010.
The Scott County Web site, www.co.scott.mn.us., will be updated with information on specific dates, times and locations at as information is finalized.
Through a partnership with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Community, Scott County Public Health will provide adult and child health screening, preventative health care, health information, and assistance with connecting to ongoing health care and other local resources at the clinics.
The services will be provided with the use of the mobile health clinic owned by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Community. It will enable services to be brought directly to those in need by having the clinic go to various locations within Scott County.
According to the Minnesota Department of Health, there are approximately 8,540 uninsured people in Scott County (2007 data). In addition, only 68 percent of Scott County children in public health care programs access preventative health care, which means that some families and individuals aren't receiving needed health or dental care, or they end up using hospital emergency services for ailments that could have been addressed in a clinic setting.
