On Friday, a New Prague family with nine children and the father, Sgt. Jonathan VanderWert, serving in Iraq, will get much-needed repairs to their home through a national program.
Sears, in partnership with Rebuilding Together, the nation’s leading non-profit home rehabilitation organization, will be renovating over 40 homes this year through its Heroes at Home initiative. Included will be the VanderWert home.
Heroes at Home will re-make the homes of veterans. It is made possible through a national fund-raising effort that enables shoppers at Sears – both online and in stores – to contribute to the cause.
On behalf of all shoppers this holiday season, Sears will make a donation for every credit card purchase up to $1 million and for every gift card purchased up to $100,000. Heroes at Home has already raised more than $1 million dollars this summer and, in turn, will help more than 130 families make home improvements that will change their lives.
