The Shakopee School District, in cooperation with the Jordan and Prior Lake-Savage school districts, is looking for parent and community volunteers to serve on a joint planning council that will focus on providing supportive programming and integrating minority students into the school systems.
Minority representation is especially encouraged on this working group, which will be named the Multi-District Collaboration Council (MDCC). The MDCC will review the three districts’ current policies and programs and develop recommendations to improve support and opportunities provided to minority students in these districts.
The MDCC will meet six to eight times in the evenings during the next five months. The first meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Prior Lake-Savage Schools’ district office. During these meetings, a meal and childcare for young children will be provided.
Potential council members must complete and submit a self-nomination form by Sept. 3. The school board will appoint members based on random selection to provide balanced representation.
Those who are interested in serving on the council should contact Sarah Koehn at (952) 496-5006 or skoehn@shakopee.k12.mn.us.

This is silly. What minorities are they referring to? When you walk into some of the Shakopee schools you'd swear that the white kids were in the minority.
