Shimek named hospital board chair
February 14, 2008 - 4:18pm — Pat Minelli
Lee Shimek of Prior Lake has been elected board chair at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee. A member of the board for almost three years, she serves on the Quality and Safety and Mission and Strategy committees. A graduate in nursing from the College of St. Catherine, Shimek said she had a keen interest in health-care facilities in the area after moving here with her family in 1980. She said she was excited when asked to interview for the board because it gave her an opportunity to “get back into the medical environment again after taking a break to raise my family.” Shimek is also involved in the school community, serving as chair of the Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board for seven years. She also belongs to the Prior Lake Optimist organization. Shimek and her husband have three adult children, all who graduated from the University of St. Thomas and live in the Twin Cities are. David Zelinsky from Chaska became the new board treasurer. David Kraus and the Rev. Stephen Ulrick will serve as vice chair and secretary, respectively.
