Jeff Vizenor has been hired as the boys' hockey coach at Shakopee High School, Athletic Director John Janke said.
Vizenor previously was head coach for the Minnesota State University, Mankato women's hockey team. Prior to that, Vizenor coached at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minn. Before making his way into the college ranks, Vizenor was a boys' coach at both Mora High School and St. Cloud Apollo High School.
He was voted the 2004 WCHA Coach of the Year while at Mankato as well as the 1998-1999 MIAC Coach of the Year at St. Mary’s University. His high school coaching accomplishments include a 1995-1996 state tournament birth with the Mora High School boys hockey team.
Vizenor replaces Ed Loiselle, who resigned in March after 16 years as head coach of the Sabers.
