David R. Schmitt
David Schmitt, 19, of Waconia was accidentally taken from us on Sunday, July 23, 2006.

Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, July 29, 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Waconia with Father Lawrence R. Blake officiating. David was born on Aug. 26, 1986 in Waconia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary E. Schmitt nee Donna M. Tieben. David was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Elsie Tieben; great-grandparents, Frank and Frances Borka; aunt, Eleanore Huth.

David was a 2005 graduate of Waconia High School. David served as an altar boy and in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts when growing up. He was well known for his nickname Schmitty. He lived life to the fullest and always had a smile on his face. He loved his fantasy football and sports. David had a great sense of humor.

He will always be remembered in the hearts of his loving family, parents Gary and Donna Schmitt of Waconia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheryl and Allen Heidorn of Watertown, Shawna Schmitt of Buffalo, Brenda and John Erickson of Minnetonka; nieces and nephews, Rachel, Parker, Dalton, Danielle (godchild), Paige, Dylan, Jordan and Stephanie (godchild); grandparents, Raymond and Eugenia Schmitt of Waconia; many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Casket bearers were Jason Wirtz, Joe Wirtz, Ryan Schmitt, Josh Schmitt, Nick Gilliland, Mike Bell. Final Resting place is St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Ethel C. (Schmitt) Worm
Ethel Worm, 83, of Cologne passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2006 at Auburn Manor in Chaska.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, 10:30 a.m. St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 210 Church Street, Cologne, with Father Martin Shallbetter officiating. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 11 from 4-8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia and one hour prior to the mass at the church; prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday evening. Final resting place is St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery.

Ethel was born on June 3, 1923 in Chaska, the daughter of George Schmitt and Mary (Krueser) Schmitt. Ethel was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shakopee. On June 3, 1948 she married George H. Worm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shakopee. Ethel worked as a waitress for many years at local restaurants. She enjoyed many hours listening to music, crocheting, reading and writing poetry. She was a published poet.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, George Worm; parents, George and Mary Schmitt; brothers, Raymond Schmitt, Carl Schmitt and Harold Schmitt; sisters, Lucille Williams, Alice Hammers, Dorothy Raser, Nancy Huss.

Ethel is survived by her loving family, sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Dianne (Kurkowski) Worm of Stroudsburg, Pa., Jerome and Gail Worm of Cologne, Daniel and Diane Worm of Cologne, Russell and Jeanie Worm of Cologne, Dale and Kristina Worm of St. Bonifacius, Gregory and Brenda Worm of Cologne; grandchildren, Sheri Lee and Jim Hentges, Staci Lynn Worm, Timothy and Trudy Worm, Toby Worm, Sara Worm and fiancee Cody Magnus, William Worm, Kevin Worm, James Worm, Rebecca Worm, Adam Worm, Bob Worm, Tom Worm and Jeff Worm; great-grandchildren, Aubrea Ann, Claire Elizabeth, Hallie Lee, Jake Michael; sisters, Lorraine Thielen of Shakopee, Sister Virginia Schmitt OLVM of Huntington, Ind., Harriet Pink of Shakopee, Lois Kubes of Shakopee; sister-in-law, Della Schmitt of Prior Lake; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leander Worm of Shakopee, Anthony and Loretta Worm of New Prague, Katherine Worm of Jordan, Gertrude Theis of Sauk Centre, Leonette Worm of St. Paul, Alban and Lola Worm of South St. Paul; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Vernon V. Baumgard
Vernon “Dots” V. Baumgard, 75, of Jordan passed away on Monday, Aug. 7, 2006 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

He was born on June 14, 1931 in Brewster, Minn. to Fredrick and Helena (Manken) Baumgard. He was confirmed on May 27, 1945. Vernon graduated from Faribault Area Vocational Technical Institute as a machinist. He entered the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. On May 4, 1956 he met Gesina Klooster and on Jan. 4, 1957 they were married in Ellsworth, Minn. Vernon was a farmer in the Paynesville and Adrian areas and later worked as a machinist for Continental Machines Inc. in Savage and retired from there.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Gesina Baumgard of Jordan; children, Renee (Larry) Spangenberg of Laporte, Dean (special friend, Lindsay Van Stone) Baumgard of Lonsdale, Denise (fiancé, Tom Johnson) Baumgard of Shakopee, Randy (Marian) Baumgard of Jordan, Gary (Kristin) Baumgard of Farmington; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Shauna, Randi, Eric, Rici, Jeremy, Mike and Kaylynn; three great-grandchildren, Briana, Cyrus and Tawnie; siblings, John (Marie) Baumgard of Fulda, June (Dr. Carl) Harberts of Emery, S.D., Norma (Duane) Defries of Rochester; many nieces and nephews.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Edna Janda, Verna Clausen and Dorothy Rosenboom.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10 at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
