Community members have an opportunity to help package 100,000 life-saving meals for starving children around the world during a May 21-23 event at Shakopee Area Catholic School (SACS).

Through a partnership between SACS and Twin Cities-based Feed My Starving Children, volunteers will prepare 100,000 meals for starving children in the developing world.

Public packing sessions will take place at the following times:

SACS is also leading the community’s efforts to raise the $15,000 necessary to produce the meals. Community members can bring financial donations to the SACS office or to any of the packing sessions.

To register an individual, family, or group for a packing session, contact Joan Fering at jfering@sacsschools.org [1] or (952) 445-3387, extension 175.

Feed My Starving Children is a nonprofit Christian organization based in the Twin Cities committed to feeding starving children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: volunteers of all ages hand-pack meals designed specially for starving children, and FMSC ships the meals to more than 50 countries around the world. Each meal costs only 17 cents to produce. In 2007, FMSC sent more than 43 million meals around the world thanks to the work of 185,000 volunteers.
