The Shakopee track and field teams will not participate in the
state True Team meet.
Both teams failed to qualify for the state True Team meet when
both the boys and girls teams finished in sixth place at the Section 3AAA True
Team meet.
The boys finished with 512 points while the girls finished with
525. Farmington won the boys meet with 755.5 points while the Eastview
Lightning won the girls meet with 839.5.
“The competition is very tough at these meets,” girls head coach
Kathy Carlson said. “Eastview was strong and Prior Lake and Apple Valley were
very close for second place.”
Maria Hauger and Karen Boidoku produced the only first-place
finishes for the Saber girls. Hauger won the 3,200 meters with a time of 11:34.
Teammates Anna Neu and Winona Rachel finished fourth and fifth respectively in that
event.
In shot put, Boidoku threw 39-8.25 to win the event.
Abby Berens jumped 5-0 in the high jump to finish in second place.
She also finished sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.79.
Gaby Rosario finished ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time
of 17.15. Alyson Temp vaulted 8-6 to finish seventh in the pole vault.
The Sabers performed well in the relay events.
The team of Claire Sames, Sammie Lebens, Kristin Hennes and
Berens ran a 1:49.8 to finish second in the 4x200 meter relay.
Hauger, Gracie Vaughan, Jessica Hoffman and Neu ran a 10:00.49
to finish second in the 4x800 meter relay.
In the 4x100 relay, Ashley Leadstrom, Sammi Lebens, Kristin
Hennes and Berens finished third with a time of 51.52.
Kendra Ledel, Ashley Cornelius, Jessica Willard and Molly Hennen
were seventh in the 4x400 meters with a time of 4:19.9.
The girls also competed in the Faribault Invitational last Thursday
and finished in seventh place with 47 points.
Berens ran strong again as she finished second in the 100 meters
with a time of 13.13. She also finished third in the high jump with a leap of
4-8.
Boidoku won the shot put with a throw of 39-7.25 and was second
in the discus with a throw of 108-7.
Boys track
The boys team also finished seventh at the Faribault Invite with
35 points.
Luke Sames finished second in the 400 meters with a time of
52.39.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Herbert Perkins ran a 15.54 to finish
in second place. Teammate Robert Lundby finished in 10th place.
Perkins also finished third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time
of 42.61. He also was third in the high jump with a jump of 5-6.
Robert Schultz finished fifth in the pole vault with a vault of
9-6.
In the long jump, Eric Duong was fifth. Matt Korthour was fifth
in the discus.
