The city of Shakopee is looking for volunteers to help improve local water quality by adopting a pond. The new Adopt-A-Pond program offers residents a critical role in the management of area ponds.
As part of the program, the city is asking for a two-year commitment to complete the following:
+ Attend an educational workshop.
+ Conduct bi-annual cleaning
+ Interact with and educate adjacent pond land-owners.
+ Serve as a liaison to the city by reporting water quality and vegetation issues.
To adopt a pond, contact Ryan Huges at (952) 233-9510 or rhughes@ci.shakopee.mn.us [1] for an application. The city welcomes neighborhood associations, schools, community groups, religious groups, seniors, businesses, youth groups and any other individual or group to participate.
