Saturday’s nine-race program at Canterbury Park is highlighted by the co-featured 10,000 Lakes and Lady Slipper Stakes.
The 10,000 Lakes for colts and geldings and the Lady Slipper for fillies and mares are restricted to horses bred in Minnesota, with both offering a $50,000 purse.
The 133rd Preakness from Pimlico is the featured simulcast race.
Advance wagering on the Preakness is available beginning at noon on Friday. Saturday’s post time is 1:30 p.m. The Preakness has a post time of 5p.m.
The 10,000 Lakes and the Lady Slipper mark the beginning of the Minnesota-bred stakes program. A total of 13 thoroughbred stakes for state-breds will be run this season with purses of $690,000. The centerpiece is the 15th running of the Minnesota Festival of Champions on Sunday, Aug. 17.
Live racing at Canterbury Park resumes Friday with a 7 p.m. first post. Saturday and Sunday racing begins at 1:30 p.m.
