A winter weather advisory for Scott County continues until 6 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service office in Chanhassen.

Snow is expected to continue across east-central and south-central Minnesota today. Snowfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches will be common across much of the advisory area by this evening, which includes locations along and south of a St. Cloud to Anoka line. The greatest risk of 4 to 5 inches of snow would be around Faribault, Waseca, Owatonna, and Albert Lea.

Snow will persist through the day, and gradually taper off by this evening. Northerly winds will become gusty in the wake of the snowfall this evening, which could result in areas of blowing and drifting snow.

A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
