HUTCHINSON -- Shakopee held an early lead but in the end Hutchinson was too much.
Hutchinson defeated Shakopee 34-7 on Friday night in a Missota Conference game.
The Sabers grabbed a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 2-yard touchdown run by Zach McBeain.
After that it was all Hutchinson as it scored 34 unanswered points.
The Sabers will play host to Farmington at 7 p.m. Wednesday, as they end the regular season.
SCORING SUMMARY:
Shakopee Volleyball’s Above the Net Club has announced it will be Fan Appreciation Night on Tuesday when the No. 1-ranked Sabers take on the No. 6 Waconia team at Shakopee High School.
The Sabers’ B squad and junior varsity squads start the evening at 5:30 and the varsity plays at 7 p.m.
The first 300 fans wearing Saber apparel will receive a souvenir. There will also be T-shirt and gift card giveaways.
Holy Angels ruined Shakopee's homecoming by defeating the Sabers 21-0 on Friday night.
The Stars forced six Shakopee turnovers and scored touchdowns in the first, second and fourth quarters. The last touchdown came on a fake punt with three minutes left in the game.
Shakopee junior volleyball player Ashley Wittman has made a verbal committment to the University of Minnesota.

In dominating fashion, the Shakopee football team defeated Red Wing 37-14 on Friday night at Vaughan Field for its first Missota Conference win in almost two years.
The Sabers' offense moved the ball at will against Red Wing and their defense came up big with multiple turnovers to stop the Wingers' attack.
The win improved Shakopee's record to 2-3 on the season. It is the Sabers' first two-win season in seven years.
The Shakopee Girls Basketball Association reminds girl athletes in fourth through eighth grades interested in playing basketball this winter that they can still register to play at www.shakopeebasketball.com.
Shakopee eighth-grader Maria Hauger won the Eagle Invitational cross country meet on Saturday.
Hauger ran a 15:04.7 to lead the Sabers to a third place finish.

The No. 2 team in the state defeated the No. 1 team to win the Eagle Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Saturday night in Apple Valley.
Shakopee, ranked No. 2, defended its title by defeating Chaska, 25-14, 25-15.
The win means Shakopee, the defending Class 3A state champions, will most likely move up to No. 1 in next week's rankings.
Ashley Wittman led the attack with 17 kills. She also finished with 11 digs. Mollie Geske added 10 digs and Mariah Monnens had seven.
