Canterbury Park in Shakopee received approval from the Minnesota Racing Commission on Thursday to conduct a 62-day thoroughbred and quarter-horse race meet in 2010.
The meet, which will mirror the 2009 season, will begin Friday, May 14 and run through Sunday, Aug. 29 with Thursday and Friday post times of 7 p.m. and weekend and holiday post times of 1:30 p.m.
Elizabeth Benusa, Claire Sames, Ashley Wittman and Mollie Geske of Shakopee High School have been named to the Wells Fargo All-Tournament Team for Class AAA girls’ volleyball last weekend.

ST. PAUL — The Shakopee Sabers won their third-straight Class 3A volleyball state championship tonight with a 3-1 victory over Wayzata at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
The Sabers won the first and third sets handily, by 25-8 scores. In the second set, however, Wayzata got a 26-24 win.
The No. 1-ranked Shakopee Sabers will go for their third consecutive state 3A volleyball championship today against Wayzata at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul at 5 p.m.

ST. PAUL — The Shakopee Sabers will have a chance to go for three consecutive state volleyball championships after beating Stillwater 3-0 this morning in the Class 3A seminfinals at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
The Sabers, 31-0, beat Stillwater (26-5) 25-17, 25-18 and 25-10.
The Shakopee Sabers moved ahead of Stillwater 2-0 at the state Class 3A volleyball tournament semifinals under way this morning at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
The Sabers won the first set 25-17 and the second set 25-18.
