The softball team for Shakopee knows who it will have to play in the playoffs.

The Sabers will face Waconia at 5 p.m. at Caswell Park in Mankato in the first round of the Section 2AAA tournament.

If they beat Waconia, Shakopee would face Eden Prairie at 7 p.m. that same day.

Shakopee defeated Waconia 7-1 earlier in the season. They did not face Eden Prairie.

The Sabers are currently 12-7 on the season and 9-4 in the Missota Conference with one game left on their schedule against Prior Lake.

The 11th annual St. Francis Foundation
“Tee One for Hope” Golf Tournament will be Thursday, June 12 at Stonebrooke
Golf Club in Shakopee.

Registration for the 18-hole golf scramble begins at 8 a.m. with
a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The tournament, which attracts participants throughout
Scott and Carver counties, includes unique contests, hole activities, silent
auction, raffle drawing, and opportunities to win team and individual prizes.
The afternoon will conclude with a barbecue lunch and awards ceremony.

May is National Tennis Month and to encourage people of all ages
to pick up a racquet, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) is serving up
a community initiative across America.  From coast to coast, community
tennis organizations will host “Tennis Block Parties” to encourage people of
all ages and abilities to take to the court.

Saturday’s nine-race program at Canterbury Park is highlighted by the co-featured 10,000 Lakes and Lady Slipper Stakes.

The 10,000 Lakes for colts and geldings and the Lady Slipper for fillies and mares are restricted to horses bred in Minnesota, with both offering a $50,000 purse.

The Shakopee track and field teams will not participate in the
state True Team meet.

Both teams failed to qualify for the state True Team meet when
both the boys and girls teams finished in sixth place at the Section 3AAA True
Team meet.

The boys finished with 512 points while the girls finished with
525. Farmington won the boys meet with 755.5 points while the Eastview
Lightning won the girls meet with 839.5.

Shakopee was no match for Northfield
 or Lakeville North in boys tennis.

The Tigers defeated Shakopee 7-0 on last Thursday while Lakeville
North defeated the Sabers 6-1 on Friday.

Against Northfield, two matches went three sets but in the other
five it was all Northfield.

Shakopee’s No. 1 singles player Dan Zastrow lost a tight match
to Peter Lundin 6-3, 3-6, 6-7 (4-7).

She is only a freshman but Ashley Walker is already making a
name for herself as a dominating softball pitcher.

She added to her already impressive resume last Thursday when
she no-hit the Red Wing Wingers en route to an 8-0 victory.

The win improves Walker’s record to 10-5 on the season. In her
first varsity season, Walker has pitched 100.1 innings, giving up only 14
earned runs on 48 hits while striking out 141 and walking 15.

Even with a player withdrawing from the tournament, the Shakopee
boys golf team finished fourth at the Shakopee Invitational on Monday, May 12
at Stonebrooke Golf Club.

The Sabers shot a 348 even though Jack Pexa had to withdraw from
the tournament on the back nine after he shot a first nine of 1-over par 37.

The score of 348 left the Sabers behind the winner Mankato West,
Owatonna and Eden Prairie. Mankato West shot a 303.
