ALBANY, Minn. — Two Shakopee residents were critically hurt about 2 p.m. Friday after their vehicle rolled Friday in Stearns County in the westbound lanes of Interstate Highway 94, according to the State Patrol.

Avis Johnson, 74, said she was sleeping soundly when she was awoken by a man digging through her dresser drawers. Johnson said when she awoke, she made eye contact with the man, who was wearing a bandana over his face and had “a crazed look in his eye.”

Seat-belt use among teens appears to dip during the last few months of the school year and the percentage of  traffic deaths involving drinking teen drivers jumps during the same period, according to Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) data.

A former Chaska High School graduate died after police used a Taser on him at a St. Paul apartment.

Joseph Kubat, 21, died Sunday following an alleged altercation with police.

According to a press release, St. Paul police and fire paramedics responded to a suicide call involving a controlled substance in the early morning hours on May 4.

Shakopee police cited 163 motorists for speeding during an enhanced patrol effort as part of a statewide Safe & Sober campaign in April.
