$2.99 gas!!!

» Read similar stories filed under:

Boy was I shocked to drive past Hennen's Shell station on First Avenue this afternoon and see that gasoline had reached $2.99/gallon. Never thought I'd see that day come again.

Has anyone else spotted gas in Shakopee under $3?

I saw it for $2.95 at the SuperAmerica on the Savage/Burnsville border this morning. My tank is low, so I think I'll go fill up (and it will probably be under $40!)

It's funny: A few months ago, people almost fainted as gas approached $3 a gallon.

Now, we're absolutely giddy as the price comes down to around $3 per gallon.

A shorter drive would put you at SA on Canterbury at 169 -- it's $2.88 (and five other stations in Shakopee, according to the gas price Web site) there this morning. My parents live in Florida and my mom told me the cheapest she saw it there yesterday was $3.37 and she expects it to go up today because it always goes up there on the weekends.

Last night, Jay Leno was talking about the price of gas coming down and that the average price for a gallon of gas was now at $2.85. Thus, I am loving our Shakopee stations being at $2.19.

History was made in last night's election and as I drove home from our late-night coverage, I saw something else I never thought I'd see -- a one in front of the price of a gallon of gas. Yep. $1.98 for regular unleaded. Of course, my car likes a higher octane so I paid $2.08 but it was still nice to see the one again ;-)

Just think how low the prices could go if we started drilling our own oil? That way, we could flip the bird to the oil barons of the middle east and Venezuela. Sorry, now that Obama will be President, that ain't gonna happen.
