YahooCanterbury Park has proposed a 62-day racing season in 2009, five fewer days than this year’s meet.
The Shakopee track made the proposal to the Minnesota Racing Commission, which will consider the plan following a public hearing on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 4 p.m. at the University of Minnesota’s Leatherdale Equine Center, 1801 Dudley Ave., St. Paul.
Canterbury proposed two days of thoroughbred racing on May 15 and May 16 and 60 days of mixed thoroughbred and quarter-horse racing from May 17 through Aug. 30.
The commission also received a request for 51 days of live harness racing from Running Aces Harness Park beginning May 15 through Aug. 9 in Columbus.
Canterbury racing would remain at 7 p.m. Thursday and Fridays, and 1:30 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. There would be special post times of 4 p.m. Friday, July 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15 and 16.
