Grammar and Thought Police Posters on Shakopee Valley News by Justmeagain2
In the past few months, I come out here to read an article and the article has posters that comments; I think great -- that's what we need more grammar and thought police. It is becoming tedious to keep seeing the same people attacking each out with the "US versus THEM" mentality. I believe people are entitled to be different and have discussions with opposing viewpoints. The purpose of being able to comment anonymously or under disguise is to give a comfort level to state your opinion without fear of retribution in real life. That being said I have noticed a totally lack of tolerance of others and petty verbal attacking each other. The pettiness is over grammar, spelling, beliefs, and where a person lives. All this does is show others that many of you are narrow-minded, pompous and shows a lack of manners to others that happen to post comments on this website. I have tried not to do be mean spirited and if I have I either remove myself or I apologized (now or in the past). Many topics rile people up and they state their passionate opinion. Recently, there are commentators that always attack each other as soon as one makes a post. That decision to attack is based on the supposed political side of the fence that the commentator believes the other is on or from previous "skirmishes" where the posters were opposing viewpoints. It has turned vile and bitter in these exchanges. Various postings are the commentators attempt at humor. Some do not understand that humor and take offense immediately. Humor can be used to: 1) draw attention away from high stressed situations 2) make people laugh remember laughter is the best medicine and 3) disarm volatile audiences. Coming out to the www.shakopeenews.com was fun and entertaining and a way to catch up on news that is local. Commenting was fun to see others viewpoints. Now, it's not. Off my soapbox, off the site. DONE!

Thank you. Finally someone with some integrity. My point is that this site is utilized as a chat room rather than a site used to voice opinions based upon the news that appears in the SVN. There are individuals who stand post and wait for their next victim. There appears to be a group of people on this site who think their opinion is paramount to anyone who enters here. They cry about the freedom of speech but grant it only to themselves and whomever agrees with them. The young man, who was their latest victim, should have been faced with debate and intellectual conversation, instead he was insulted.
I would like to state that i defend my people, the American Indian. The state of MN is rich with our culture and the 11 tribes who reside here. As a matter of fact, our powwow is this weekend, if you haven’t been to a powwow, please come and enjoy. Also please note, there are states in the US where there are no American Indians, they have either been annihilated or removed to another state. For those of you who simply hate Indians, your free to move to a state where there are none, maybe you won’t find us so offensive.

My apologies A. ROSS. I mis-understood the direction of your post. I am in complete agreement with you on the childish nature of the previous incident. What is more amazing is the number of people who appeared to find it humorous rather than offensive.

Turbo I dont have a problem coming to this site and debating issues if that were what was really taking place here. Young N. Crooks entered here and was told to stick a feather in his a**, by someone who “is a regular” blogger, using the term loosely, who stands post waiting to attack an unsuspecting individual who would like to express their view. My concern is that these people use this site as a chat room, who knew. I might be wrong but the freedom to express your opinion was a right granted to everyone, even N. Crooks. It just verify’s my belief that some people just hate. I thought it was childish and disrespectful, come to find out these people are on this site all the time. That comment didn’t have anything to do with the issue, it was purely an insult, trash talking, narrow minded kids who play here.
I don’t call sticking a feather in your a** a view point.

Keeping slots out of Canterbury has to be a direct benefit to Mystic Lake. I’m not even sure the Crooks should be commenting on the issue. But, if they do choose to comment we should be aware of the amount of money at stake for them and the race track. I am not a gambler and would never use the slots at the track nor the casino. But as citizens I think we should be aware of who will benefit from all public measures. Especially with financial benfits.
So yes A. Ross. Please be prepared when you enter this site. And if you state a position, be prepared to be challenged. If you have not noticed there are several different view points expressed here on a daily basis.

I know little N. C. - obviously anyone who comes in here should be prepared for the bloggers who are standing post - steadily guarding the SVN just waiting for they’re next victim. Heaven forbid someone should come in here with a different viewpoint from those whose life evolves around the SVN blog/chat room.

I’ve known Vic for years. He is a kind hearted fool deep down. I just gotta keep him in check once in a while.
The world would be a better place in folks would learn to work together and respect others opinions. This “My Way or the Hi-Way” attitude only serves to tear us apart.

jbus, actually it was ilikelakes not VicLava that started the finger pointing at Vic, Pat, Arthur, etc. Created equal still misses the point and that they’re are so intellectually superior to everyone else. Thrives with correction and attacking and supposedly standing up for the oppressed.
Ilikelakes, so you struck a nerve, yeah, repeating, you don’t know me, you obviously missed who this was directed at, but you’re right it wasn’t at Pat T. Land.
Vic has opposed me under my other moniker, but guess what, he apologized later once he was informed that he was offensive.
Pat I like, he’s funny and I get the humor.

Do not feel sorry for little N. Crooks. He came in here with a vested interest, to push an issue that he could profit from. The rest of us, simply beat each other’s brains in for free.

Wow, this is interesting.

Wow, this is interesting. Everyone knows everyone, is this a chat room or a place where you blog about issues concerning our community. Either way this drama must have been going on for some time, people having hurt feelings. I fell bad for little N. Crooks who came in here to defend an issue appearing in the SVN and all he got was insulted with something about a feather. He is a young man, I’m not sure who you are but I doesn’t show him much about the people who reside on this blog site. There’s a place for this, its called a chat room, located on your aol tool bar under people connection.

Wow, MominShakopee, I really struck a nerve. Sorry you took what I have written so personally. I too know what it’s like to have a child with learning issues. I won’t go on about that. It’s beyond the scope of this discussion. No one is perfect. So, instead of going on and on, I’m signing off, and I hope this ends this online banter. I’ll try not to rear my “ugly, bigotted head” as Vic so kindly described me and others. I don’t want to upset you, him or anyone else in the SOTMAS (credited to Created Equal). Life’s too short. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend.

Sorry you feel that way Vic

Sorry you feel that way Vic but I’m not surprised. These types of rants from you always come early in the morning. Do you indulge in too much Red Hook or Chateau St. Michelle before going on the website? I don’t want to shut you up. I need to keep shaking my head at what I read from you.
