The "Greek Squad" took over Jackson Elementary last week during the school's Read-a-Thon Feb. 17. Former Shakopee hockey player recalls his own paralyzing injury

In January 1998, Shakopee High School hockey player Holt Bennington crashed head-first into the boards during a junior varsity game that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Party revelers helped close the book on 2011 at Shakopee Parks and Recreation's third annual Jack Frost New Year's Eve party Saturday. Despite the lack of snow, everyone found ways to ring in the new year with games, crafts, wagon rides, cookies and cocoa. About 200 people attended the event.
