Protest at Shakopee High This Afternoon by Philip_Oliver_Hole
I just heard that there is going to be a protest at the high school during 7th hour against the new Wisconsin law concerning collective bargaining. Because all teachers are not participating, the students that participate will receive an unexcused absence.

ACORN still does exist, just under a new name. Same management, same screwed up goals, just a different name.

Buck, Buck, Buck. Once again, your “facts” are not factual. ACORN no longer exists. To think you currently or have homeschooled your kids is frightening indeed. Where does your daughter go to college? What’s a Matta U? Bullwinkle would be impressed!

I am sure ACORN and the Dems are hard at work registering people to vote-whether they exist or not.

We’ll see BP!! Many people who put these Republican clowns in office(including that idiot Governor) are the ones protesting. The Illinois vacation is over and now it’s time to get to work. Stay tuned!!

Not a chance in heck will the word strong be associated to Democratics. Wisconsin did what needed to be done. The 14 children took their ball and went to Illinois. I would count on at least half of the 14 get removed by the people of Wisconsin. You can see that people are tired of this stuff Micro? If the people were happy with what is going on, the Democrats would not have got their butts handed to them last November

The public employees agreed to cuts in wages and benefits. The Governor didn’t even listen to any compromise. He could’ve at least been open to finding some common ground. He chose not to. The massive recall that is to follow will make Wisconsin a strong Democratic state again. Count on it!!!

The state CAN print, issue, and have it in use as an additional currency - there is nothing illegal about that - what is illegal is printing United States currency - Uncle Sam takes a dim view on that practice or not accepting it when you have an additonal currency in place. The Berkshires in MA has had a local currency in place for years called Berkshares.

Turbo…you really need to watch Waiting For Superman. Great documentary that shows how crappy the system is and how Collective Bargaining makes it so that schools can’t reward outstanding teachers because its against union rules. After all you have to pay teachers the same based on the number of years they worked etc. Doesn’t matter if some third year teacher is awesome. Also…do you have any idea how many crappy teachers are out there? My statistics from the movie may be off a bit, but they said something to the extent of 1 in 58 lawyers gets disbarred, 1 in 150 doctors loses their medical license, but only something like 1 in 2500 teachers gets fired. That’s ridiculous!!! I wonder if the teachers at the finest private schools like Breck have collective bargaining? I believe in pay for performance.

This protest was part of a nationwide student walkout called for by Wisconsin Students in Solidarity and publicized by filmmaker Michael Moore.

I can respect that micro. As far as supporting them, no, I wouldn’t. About half the States are right to work States and the public employees do not have collective bargaining and those States still function, the public employees still make a decent living and they do not hold the citizens hostage.

There's great parenting.

There’s great parenting. Have you considered that teh State of Wisconsin cannot print money to cover costs like the feds can? And the governor is required to balance the budget? Have you also considered the 1500 public employees that were to be laid off now can keep their job? I believe what the liberal icon FDR believes. Public employees should not be unionized because they are holding the citizens hostage. But I bet you don’t present both sides, do you?

I told my daughter to stay put. However, I’d be the first to tell her to protest after hours or if a rally was planned. As you know, the police and firefighters are not affected by this nonsense in Wisconsin but they chose to support the cause. Would you??
