The Bountiful Basket Food Shelf, which closed its old location in Chaska on Friday, is reopening in the Snyder's Drug building on July 5, according to the local CAP Agency.
The Snyder building is located on the southwest corner of County Road 61 and Highway 41 in downtown Chaska.
Snyders Drug Store closed in early 2010 after being purchased by Walgreen Co., which had a location across the street.
It was announced last week that CAP is closing its Carver County office in Chaska, and thus displacing its old food shelf location. The agency is closing as of Friday (initially it was reported to be closing last Friday).
"Presently, we like most others are feeling the strain of the economy and as a result have deemed it necessary at this time to close our Chaska office," said CAP Executive Director Carolina Bradpiece. "As always, our priority remains to serve our clients as effectively as possible and ensure they have access to the programs and services our agency offers in all three counties we serve."
Head Start; Bountiful Basket Food Shelf; Women, Infants & Children; Carver Health Families; and River Valley Nursing Center were the programs and services offered at Chaska office.
Here are the future locations of other programs:
The Head Start classroom located at the Chaska office will be moving to the Kindergarten Center located at 110600 Village Road, Chaska. This is located next to the current location of the CAP Chaska office.
The Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program will be moving to East Creek Family Center at 303 Sixth St. E., Chaska, which is part of the Carver-Scott Educational Cooperative. The first day WIC will begin serving clients at the new location is July 5.
Carver Healthy Families staff already had shared office space between the Chaska and Shakopee offices, so a permanent transfer to the Shakopee office will be made.
River Valley Nursing Center is seeking a new location within Carver County, but can still be accessed at the Shakopee location.
All other staff located in the Chaska office will be moving over to the Shakopee office, 712 Canterbury Road S., Shakopee.
