State Historical Society, museums to open Saturday if shutdown ends
The Minnesota Historical Society, its museums, historic sites and library will reopen to the public on Saturday following the state of Minnesota government shutdown. All programs scheduled beginning Saturday will resume as initially planned. Hours of operation and special programs are outlined at www.mnhs.org. This reopening schedule is contingent upon the passage of a budget bill by the legislature and signing by the governor.

County offers free well-water testing
Scott County, in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA), will hold a free nitrate water-testing clinic from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 30. Minnesota lawmakers will convene at 3 p.m. Tuesday to pass final budget bills. Gov. Mark Dayton called the special session during a press conference Tuesday morning. Scott County Emergency Management Director Chris Weldon took this photo of County Road 6 near Belle Plaine, which closed Friday due to flooding. (See more at our Facebook site). Scott County Public Works expects the road to re-open in one to two days. Belle Plaine Township officials also closed Oakcrest Trail from Stoppleman Boulevard to the Belle Plaine city limits on Friday due to a road washout.
Antique tractor show coming soon
