Average retail gasoline prices in Twin Cities have risen 25.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.82 Sunday. That compares to the national average that has increased 6.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.63, according to gasoline price website TwinCitiesGasPrices.com. Local legislators continue to receive pay during state shutdown
Three area state legislators are among 52 of the 66 members of the Senate and 87 of the 135 members of the House who continue to receive paychecks during the state government shutdown, according to a report in the Star Tribune. An air-pollution alert for the Twin Cities metropolitan area has been issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency today and is in effect through midnight. The warning was posted due to high levels of ozone, which typically occurs when it is hot and sunny with little wind. The warning advises people with respiratory conditions, the elderly and children to use caution and curtail outside activities.
