Thank you Kristin for the clarification. Guess I stand corrected. Good to see local establishments represented. Didn’t get down to the Taste this year, but hopefully next year.
Actually, Ryan, the majority were local vendors: Knights Event Center, Speed Dog, Mr. Pig Stuff, Arizona’s, Pablo’s and Turtle’s. Cub Foods was serving corn, too. I really appreciated the local flavor this year.
Check out the comments from our Shakopee Valley News Facebook site, too.
As long as the event operates within it’s fiscal means, I’m ok with it.
Perhaps it’s due to the state shutdown and obtaining licenses in time, but as a suggestion for next year’s Taste of Shakopee, I would like to see local vendors involved besides Turtle’s and Pablo’s to give it more of a Shakopee feel. I have an idea how chain restaurant food tastes, such as McDonald’s and Qdoba.
I was hoping the 101 project would be close to completion to ease traffic during Derby Days, but it bottlenecked Spencer Street pretty well during peak hours.
We liked it, nice music for everyone, beer, food carts and parade was nice and so long, longer then in Chaska on 4th of July. My kids loved the parade. In my opinion we need more atractions for kids in the family park. Less Pump it up, more other stations, (examples: throwing water baloons to the target, kicking ball to the target, horse and ponny rides). We injoyed the rain and fireworks also :) we had so much fun. Thank you everyone!!!
Haven’t attended in years. Taste of Shakopee became too expensive for the food received. The parade a joke especially once moved to Sunday mornings and the route constantly is being changed and I have walked that in 100 plus degree heat. I did see the fireworks right after it was moved back to Huber Park, but parking to get to Huber is not that great. Seriously, need to look at how much it costs to put on versus how much is made…labor, volunteer hours, advertising. Is it worth it?
